I'm still just thrilled that I got to meet your students and I was so inspired by them.
I want them to know that I watched the performance video, and they were fantastic. Everyone stepped up to the task and shined. You are lucky to have teachers encouraging you so supportively. Keep on making music, it soothes the soul.
A word for the "artist" you highlighted in an afternoon class and anyone who considers making art.
Art comes from inside. It's valuable because you see something others don't. You'll continue to make art no matter what others think. That's the creation part.
Making a living at it and supporting yourself with it is another separate part. Some artists can balance both, some never get the second piece. It doesn't make the art any less powerful or important to you the creator.
If you choose to create art for a living. Learn business, marketing, social media etc. Do not expect someone to do that part for you. You're a lucky artist if they do.
