We had a great afternoon of music and food. We shared the music we've been working on and it was good. We heard original songs from Daylon Reynolds: Bottle up a Day and Last Summer. We heard an original piece from Isabella Guarana and the Amanda Gorman poem set to music she learned called Change Sings. We heard a former student of mine from 10 years ago, Joe Kersey gave us a great rendition of Phycho Killer by the Talking Heads and America by Paul Simon. We heard Peace like a River, and Down by the Bay from Andrew Ritchie. Dani Ansaldo gave us Brown Eyed Girl and If I Only Had a Brain which was so appropriate for all of us having 'de nerve' to perform. Lauren Weir shared her caterpillar (since she's only had 4 lessons) and some lovely strumming because her rhythm is amazing. Sosie Reynolds gave us House of Gold on ukulele, and 4x4xU performed with her Brother, Daylon. Isabel Goodwin gave us Mitzke's First Love-Late Spring and On My Own from Les Miserables. When adults maintain their skills without ambition or goal, they become free from all the shoulds and just make music for music's sake. It's stunning.
